McLaren P1 Carbon Fibre Front Clamshell
The McLaren P1's front clamshell is a remarkable example of McLaren's lightweight engineering philosophy. Manufactured as a large, single-moulded carbon fibre component, it attaches directly to the vehicle's central carbon fibre MonoCage, significantly reducing the number of individual body panels required.
Designed to be both structural and functional, the front clamshell incorporates integrated air scoops and cooling ducts that contribute to the P1's advanced aerodynamic performance and thermal management systems. Despite its substantial size, the carbon fibre construction allows the panel to remain exceptionally lightweight while maintaining outstanding strength and rigidity.
